Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation (NTZDC) was established as a state Corporation under a Legal Gazette Notice No. 30 of 2002, revoking Legal Gazette Notice No. 265 of 1986, with the aim of promoting forest conservation by providing buffer zones of tea and fuelwood to check against human encroachment into the gazetted forests.                                                                                       

The Corporation’s operations are spread over nineteen (19) zones and two factories one in Nandi County and another one under completion in Kirinyaga County. The Corporation’s major activities are in tea growing, tea factory operations and local sales distribution of value-added teas.

 1. GREEN LEAF LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

 JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to Factory Manager, the job holder will be responsible for Coordination of green leaf collection and delivery from the Corporation’s farms and out growers to the factory.

 PRIMARY RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Route planning

Reporting to the Plant Technician, the job holder will be responsible for repair and service of factory machinery and ensure safety of the machinery and equipment.

  • Adhere to and Implement policies and strategies on machinery and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop Maintenance and servicing schedules for all factory machinery and equipment
  • Ensure timely Inspection, testing, repair, maintenance and service of factory machinery

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Accountant, the job holder will be responsible for ensuring effective accounting of receipts and cash transactions as per approved policies, procedures and control systems in the Factory.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare timely and accurate reports.
  • Timely and accurate receipting of cash and cheques from clients.
  • Carrying out of reconciliation of receipts and banking as per approved procedures.

5. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT III

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Zone Manager, the job holder will be responsible for provision of effective office support, communication services and supplies/stores management

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuring effective management of the office and carrying out other operations in the Zone

as required.

Providing secretarial services filing, posting, refreshments, voucher processing, running errands.

Liaising with, making requisition for stock items from the Purchasing and Supplies Department at the headquarters on the required items for operations.

Reporting to Green Leaf Coordinator, the job holder will be responsible for effective and efficient maintenance of motor vehicle and equipment in order to meet set targets

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring maintenance and repairs of equipment and transport facilities as per set quality standards and specifications.
  • Carrying out comparative estimate cost of repairs and maintenance of motor vehicle and equipment.
  • Ensuring timely implementation of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensuring that the cost of repairs is maintained within approved levels.

 11. WELDER/FABRICATOR

 JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Plant Technician, the job holder will be responsible for Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, bridge parts, and pressure vessels, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
  • Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
  • Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

  • CTC Rollers sharpening.
  • CTC Rollers changing.
  • Checking roller cutting efficiency.
  • Multi-purpose lathe operation.
  • General machine service.
  • Record keeping and update of documents.

13. BOILER ATTENDANT

JOB PURPOSE:

Assist plant technician in ensuring availability, reliability and safety of steam boilers and related equipment to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, production and safety targets.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carrying out timely and scheduled statutory maintenance and repairs on steam boilers including routing weekly and monthly maintenance.
  • Reporting all serious faults and efficiencies which cannot immediately be taken care of:
  • Inspect the plant in the actual boiler room to the necessary degree and at least once every second hour.
  • Ensure that all safety fitting/mountings are operating as required (e.g. mobreys, alarms, level indicators, pressure gauges, safety values etc.)
  • Ensure that water level is steam boiler is not below the low water mark.
  • Ensure availability of water in the condensate tank and make-up water tank.
  • Ensure that routine checks and manual operations are carried out. This includes blow down of the boiler, blow down of mobreys and water gauges, testing of alarm systems priming of feed pumps.
  • Maintain accurate record of fuel consumptions and steam generated.
  • Ensure that boiler water treatment is carried out as required.
  • Train stokers on boiler safety precautions.
  • Institute safety practices in the boiler room.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons must not be in the boiler room.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of related steams and condensate equipment in entire factory steam systems regarding safety and energy management measures.

  • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road, passengers and goods therein.
